Why A Corgi Bites The Neck Of Another Corgi

For those who have several Corgis, you may notice every once in a while that one of your Corgis is biting the back of the neck of the other. As long as fights don’t start breaking out, this is normal for a Corgi to do. It is a way of trying to dominate. This may happen a lot, but shouldn’t be a problem as long as one of two things don’t happen.

The First Problem With A Corgi Biting Another Corgi’s Neck: Fighting

First being that fights between the two Corgis don’t break out. Play fighting is not the type of fighting that is the problem, but the actual fighting that involves both of the Corgis trying to hurt each other. Sometimes this may end up with one or both of them being wounded. The difference between the two are noticeable by how both Corgis are acting. If fighting breaks out when one Corgi is trying to dominate the other by biting the back of the other’s neck, separate both of the Corgis when you are not watching them.

If you catch either one of them biting the back of the other’s neck, discourage it. But do not pull them away from each other by the collar. This may cause them to fight and hurt you in the process. Telling the Corgi who is biting ‘no’ in a commanding voice and looking at him while doing should work if done enough. But depending on your Corgi, it may differ on how to train them not to do something.

The Second Problem With A Corgi Biting Another Corgi’s Neck: Loss Of Hair

Second, it’s unlikely this happens, but if the Corgi who is getting his or her neck bitten happens to start to go bald. Every Corgi is different so some may be more likely to have this issue than others, but it still is a possible problem.

If this happens, discourage the Corgi that is biting by looking at him while he is doing it or a second afterwards and telling him ‘no’ in a voice that is to command him or her not to bite the other Corgi’s neck. Each Corgi is different so you may need use different methods to teach your Corgi not to bite. If the Corgi with the neck that is getting bitten does not heal or gets infected, take him to the vet as soon as possible.

If one of your Corgis is biting the neck of another Corgi, it is natural for this to happen. It’s a way of dominating the other. But if it causes fights or the Corgi’s neck happens to not heal or gets infected, then there is a problem. Discourage the biting if either of these problems occur. It may take a while for it to work, and while you leave your Corgis unattended you should separate them until the problem is fixed.

Like most downtown areas, the apartments are several stories high, houses have little no backyard, and little grassy areas for you to take your Corgi out for potty training him. This will leave very few options for training your Corgi, and some can be more trouble than others. Yet it has to be done unless the carpet is his or her bathroom.

Potty Training A Corgi With Fake Grass

The first option for potty training your Corgi is to try finding a special pad which is made to look like real grass that your dog maybe go to the bathroom on or another type of pad for the same use. This is the easiest to manage because all you have to do is clean it regularly and place it back where your Corgi is being trained to go to the bathroom. It is best to place this either out on a porch which is safe so your Corgi doesn’t risk hurting himself or in a room with little use or separate part of the house used for your dog’s bathroom.

Potty Training A Corgi Using Near By Grassy Areas

Another option is to find a grassy area nearby and walk your Corgi out to the spot and let him go to the bathroom. This one is harder to manage, and is only good for first floor people, but you don’t have to smell it in your house. You will need a leash, bags to pick up after your dog, and being able to be there for your Corgi when he needs to go. For people who work from 7 to 5, etc, this is not a good solution for your dog because he will have to wait long amounts of time for you to take him out to the bathroom, leaving a high chance he will use your floor instead at least once.

How To Tell When A Corgi Needs To Go To The Bathroom

If you are having trouble figuring out whenever or not your Corgi needs to go out and he can’t just walk out to go to the bathroom, there are a few behaviors and times that he will most likely need to go.

-Right after eating

-Your Corgi stands and waits by the door for which he is use to going out for the bathroom

-After not going in the past 2 to 3 hours while awake
-If he wakes you up during sleeping and runs to the door which he goes out of for the bathroom

Corgi are also known as man’s best friends, and are one of the most loved pets in the world. If you train your dog yourself, you might make some mistakes the first time, but training your corgi yourself will also help you communicate better. You can also find out how and what your dog handles different things, like someone knocking at the door, meeting some corgi or someone new, etc. Finding out how your dog reacts to that will let you correct it if it’s bad, and stop it from happening again.

These two combination will help you train better, and will also help you train your corgi better. One thing you must have while training your dog is patience. The first time you teach your corgi something, it probably won’t get it. After awhile, your dog will get better. Patience is the key part or training your corgi, so if you aren’t patience, training your dog will be very hard.

Your corgi will also want some free time to play, instead of sitting there all day be trained. Train your dog for a short time every day to help it learn better. A good
ten to thirty minutes is a lot better then trying to train your corgi for four hours , and it walks off in the middle of being trained.

Rewarding your dog for doing your command right is also a big part of training your corgi too. Rewarding your dog can be petting your corgi, a tummy rub, or a dog treat. If you just go on without rewarding your corgi for it doing something right, your dog won’t know if it’s doing something right or wrong, which means it can’t learn what to do. If you correctly reward and train your corgi, you can have a easy time corgi dog training and teach your dog whatever he needs to know.
