About a half dozen Welsh Pembroke Corgis, Cardigan Welsh Corgi, and also a Corgi puppy trying to get attention, while keeping the other Corgis from getting any. This video isn’t too long or short, it has a good time length that won’t over do it. On the 1 to 10 scale, this earns a 7.

A short video about several Cardigan and Pembroke Welsh Corgis going around grooming and playing with each other a bit. It ends short because of them fighting. which if they didn’t, it might have lasted longer. This video earns a rating of 6 out of 10.

A slide show of two Pembroke Welsh Corgis, and one Cardigan Welsh Corgi jumping for a toy and running around. To me, a video of these Corgis running around would be better than a slide show. On a scale of 1 to 10, this is a 5.

As a corgi owner you have to be keen enough to identify what type of mannerism and behaviour your dog has. In this case, you will be able to tailor your treatment towards him and meet his specific needs and wants. You can properly motivate and effectively teach him some good manners or teach him to unlearn some of those bad ones.

A corgi is the energetic type (like many Pembroke and Cardigan corgis) if he constantly runs around and plays on about everything he sees. These types of dogs most likely are happier to establish a life outdoor. They are the best company for camping and hiking. Dogs, which are calmer and laid-back, can be best as guard dogs. They seem to be contented staying and cuddled under their master’s feet.

It is quite difficult to ask a corgi to perform work in which he does not want to do. To please an energetic corgi by confining him in a small space may be unpleasant to him, similar to a calm, laid back dog finds it hard to pick a thrown Frisbee.

Growing pups are like human babies that experience stages and changes. They also explore, get curious, and can be taught. Dog trainers say “don’t let these pups chew anything today if you don’t want to be chewed tomorrow.” So what is taught today for these growing puppies in your homes may also determine and develop their future behaviours and individualities.

Corgis mature only when they reach 3 years old. You can be keen of the single uniqueness of your own corgi from others. By that, you can have the authority over him by giving consistent training especially their “testing” stages where they are mostly vulnerable and open.

Your corgis can sense the way you value and respect them. As you recognize their individualities they will understand their place and role in your home, neighbourhood, and environment. They possess the natural instinct to live in packs. And for them to know where they are in your everyday routine and lifestyle, they behave comfortably and confidently. Canines become aggressive and threatening if they are treated as one, while those that are treated in a friendly and loving manner behave accordingly.

You can also identify your corgi’s behaviour when he meets with other dogs, probably of different breeds. Corgis interact with other dogs. Their body language will show it. Wagging of stubs or tails may show fondness. Low growls, raised ears, exposed sharp teeth may indicate they are threatened. They, themselves, can sense when there is a bad or good chemistry between one of their kinds. There are dogs that don’t like sudden greetings by suspicious unfriendly ones.

Don’t wait for a dogfight to find out - learn how to read your ’s body language. Plus, even if your corgi loves all other dogs, an unsuspecting not-as-friendly dog will not appreciate a sudden greeting.

Unless you’re a reputable breeder or have a show dog, you should seriously consider spaying or neutering your Welsh corgi. In an ideal world, everyone would own corgis and there’d be no problem having yours reproduce so that you could carry on the line. However, it is a sad fact that many dogs, including cute Pembroke and Cardigan corgis, are abandoned every day. If not rescued or adopted, they are put to sleep. This is reality.

For example, Los Angeles animal shelters took in 50,000 dogs and cats last year and nearly one-third were put to death (euthanized). The city has now passed one of the strictest animal sterilization laws in the country to deal with the problem.

Seriously consider spaying or neutering your corgi. If you want another four-legged friend, you can always adopt another Welsh corgi through a rescue organization.

Let’s be clear - there is an inherent bias at the club for fluffy weird looking breeds that Manhattan elites can use to attract attention to themselves. That’s less a family member and more a status symbol, i.e. a lousy way to treat any dog regardless of breed.

Neither corgi breed placed in the Best of Group (Herding). If you want to see photos from the Best of Breed judging, simply click this link, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click the “photos” link by each of the winners.

As for the club, it gets a thumbs down for not giving corgis a fair shake in the competition.

Of course, our corgis don’t need ribbons. They’ve already won our hearts.

02-13-08 Update - A beagle won Best in Show. Doesn’t make up for stiffing the corgis but at least a ‘normal’ dog won top honors. Kudos to the club for doing the right thing.

Preferring the toy dog breeds carried around by American train wrecks Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, the British have apparently rejected Cardigan Corgis. According to The Telegraph, only 68 Cardigan Welsh Corgis were registered last year. This risks having the Cardigans become extinct in the United Kingdom. No figures were given for the Pembroke Corgis (the Queen’s favorite).

To our friends across the Atlantic pond, please note that choosing a dog breed based upon what Hilton and Spears do just isn’t right. Please reconsider this gigantic mistake and pick a Cardigan or two as your next four-legged family members. And if you think so highly of the two American morons, please take them off our hands. We’d be happy to ship them to you one-way so that the collective U.S. IQ rises by a couple of points.
